RESUMING CADET ACTIVITIES FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Will cadets be in-person or virtual this year

The current plan is to resume our activities using an IN-PERSON format this year in full compliance with the provincial Public Health Authorities Measures. Very similar to what the school system is implementing.

2. What do I have to do if I do not want to continue with the Air Cadet Program this year?

Well, we will be sad to see you quitting the program but we respect your decision. Your parents accepted the responsibility for the cadet uniform that was issued to you on a temporary loan. This has a value of more than $500 and all uniform parts in your possession MUST BE TURNED IN to our supply office (Marie Victorin Community Center) on Tuesday September 7 or Wednesday September 8, 2021 between 19:00 and 21:00.

3. When do we start cadet activities?

We will kick off our 2021-2022 training year for all returning cadets on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2021 from 09:00 to 16:00 at Marie Victorin Community Center. The dress for this activity will be civilian clothing with your squadron blue T-Shirt and your squadron baseball cap. All male cadets should have their hair freshly groomed for this event.

4. How do we kick off the new training year?

It will happen in three easy steps.

First, all previously registered cadets must come with a parent for their annual validation on Sunday September 12, 2021. Those cadets will be invited by groups at a specific timing for their instruction level at Marie Victorin Community Center between 09:00 to 16:00. They will be required to meet with the administration team to complete and sign annual validation documents and will receive further instructions on our activity program.

Second, after completing their annual validation, we will set up a large scale uniform counter in the Gymnasium and cadets will have the opportunity to exchange the uniform parts (blue uniform or FTU) that does not fit anymore. Any uniform part needing to be exchanged must have been freshly washed and dried before the exchange. Cadets who did not yet receive their field training uniform (FTU) will be invited to make an appointment for their first issue.

Third, a parent and cadet information session will be held for each group with our adult staff members to convey important information and answer questions in preparation for our first training night.

5. When can we register new cadets at 338 Squadron?

Any teen agers aged between the age of 12 to 15 wishing to register to the Air Cadet program are invited with one of their parent to attend a cadet program information session at 13:30 on Sunday September 12, 2021 at Marie Victorin Community Center. Those who wish to register will be invited to begin their registration process immediately after.

6. Will it be possible to register new cadets after the September 12, 2021 kick off event?

Yes! Those parents and youths who are not available for the September 12th open door activity will be able to visit us at Marie Victorin Community Center between 19:00 and 21:00 on the following dates in September:

Wednesdays: 15, 22, 29 September

Fridays: 17, 24 September

7. Some parts of my uniform do not fit any more. When can I come to exchange what needs to be changed?

You have to try on your uniform this week and you might discover that you have grown up since the last time you wore it. If this is the case, bring the uniform parts that you want to exchange on the September 12th kick off event. We will set up a large scale uniform counter in the CCMV Gymnasium. Our supply section will also be opened between 19:00 and 21:00 on the following Tuesday nights in September for uniform parts exchange: September 14, 21, 28

** Any uniform part needing to be exchanged must have been freshly washed and dried before the exchange.

8. When do we begin our training activities at Antoine Brossard High School?

Our mandatory training program activities will resume at Antoine Brossard High School on Friday September 17, 2020 at 19:00. You will not be authorized to begin our training activities at Antoine Brossard until you have completed your annual validation. If you missed the September 12th kick off activity to do your annual validation then your other option will be to come to Marie Victorin Community Center on Wednesday September 15th or on September 17th before coming to Antoine Brossard High School.

9. Will I need to be vaccinated to attend cadet activities this year?

At this stage we have no indication that a cadet will need to be fully vaccinated to participate to the cadet program activities. We will monitor the government recommendations and comply to any changes in the regulations. It is a decision between parents and their children but we can only encourage all cadets to get their vaccine in order to protect themselves from the COVID-19 virus et reduce the spread of the virus.

10. What kind of measures will be in place to protect our cadets from COVID-19 virus.

Just like at school, our cadets will have to comply to all published provincial Public Health Authorities Measures. Each cadet will be issued by the cadet program a non medical mask and it will have to be worn while we are conducting indoor activities. Physical distancing and the washing of hands will have to be enforced as well when we begin our activities. The Canadian Cadet Organization might add more measures prescribed by the provincial health authorities to protect our cadets.
